Hambleton Ales

Friday, September 16th, 2011

brief

Create new brand identity and packaging to promote range of bottled ales and support sales into supermarkets.

Hambleton Ales is a microbrewery near Thirsk in North Yorkshire. Owner Nick Stafford wanted to refresh the product brand to reinforce its regional identity and create a stronger link to its local heritage. We designed a brand look that was instantly recognisable to customers and highlighted the origins of the brewery. A white horse became the core emblem of the brand to be used across the product range and we also devised “The Legend of the White Horse” to appear on packaging to reinforce the brewery’s values of quality and tradition.

outcomes

  • Striking brand design and a ‘product story’ told on packaging helped Hambleton secure a listing in Asda stores.

Sisushi

Friday, September 16th, 2011

brief:

Launch new company and develop brand awareness of sushi retailer.

Sushi was a new food phenomenon in the Leeds area and our challenge was to maximise awareness of the first ever retailer/delivery service in the city and maintain profile to encourage customer trial and repeat orders. This also meant educating consumers and debunking some of the myths and confusion about sushi. Sisushi and its founder were regularly in the media – regional, national and broadcast – in the launch year. This helped to grow its customer base and eventually the opening of two retail eateries in the city.

tactics

  • Media relations
  • Launch events

outcomes

  • Launch event at The Royal Armouries Museum in Leeds attended by 250+ guests from business and corporate events catering
  • 80 items of print media coverage in 2 years
  • Listing among Top 10 “nutritious and delicious” food outlets in the country by The Times
  • 14 sushi food reviews and features in Yorkshire glossy and lifestyle magazines
  • 150% growth on sales target for first quarter post-launch and attracted 100 business customers in first six months.
